We were in Manchester recently for a Conference and needed to eat after the long drive down. Last time we were there we had found a rather nice Italian but as with the way of things, it was proving difficult to find.
G (who had been driving for 7 hours that day) was beginning to fade so we decided to take a chance on a nearby steakhouse called Miller & Carter.
It was a good decision.
We decided against starter and went straight for the steaks – an Australian ‘guest steak’ caught our eye and we both went for us. It turned out (if you like tender flavourful steaks) to be a good decision.
The accompaniments were pretty good too. There was an onion loaf thing which was pretty nice and a ‘lettuce wedge’ which I was less sure about.
However, the best thing was the sauce. I selected the British beef dripping sauce which turned out to be amazing – sort of like concentrated essence of beef. Fabulous. I also enjoyed the sweet potato chips as well which I have not had before – I don’t like real potato very much so I may be trying these at home.
For two people hungry after a long journey – it was the ideal meal.
